Technical Overview

7075 forgings are the high-strength zinc-alloy parts. Plate is 7075 sheet and plate. Bar is 7075 bar. Tube is 7075 tube.

Forms: forged plate, bar, tube, ring, flange, disc, block, shaft, and shaped forgings. Tempers named with the bar include T6, T651, T73, and T7351. AMS 4127 is named for 7075-T73, and AMS 4143 for 7075-T6.

A published comparison with 6061 forged aluminium gives 7075 about 83,000 psi (572 MPa) tensile against 6061 at about 310 MPa, with 7075 elongation about 10% and 6061 about 12%. The approximate T6 table used across these forging pages lists 7075 at about 560 MPa tensile, about 500 MPa yield, and 2.81 g/cm³. Weldability is poor. Corrosion resistance in T6 is low unless the surface is protected. T73 is the temper when stress-corrosion resistance matters more than peak strength.
