Aluminium Sheet, Plates & Coil 7075

7075 is an Al–Zn–Mg–Cu plate. Zinc is what pushes the strength toward steel, and chromium is what improves resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. It is the usual choice for airframe parts, highly stressed fittings, gears, and tooling where weight has to stay low.

Supply range

Hot-selling tempers: O, T6, T73, T76, T65, T7351, T7651.

Equivalents: UNS A97075, EN AW-7075, 3.4365, A-Z5GU, AlZn6MgCu, L95, L96.

Length up to 20 m, fixed or cut. Coating film 50 µm or 80 µm (black and white, blue, or transparent). Surface: bright, polished, hairline, brush, sand blast, checkered, embossed, etching.

A wider production note lists plate up to 4000 mm wide and 250 mm thick, and strip down to 1.8 mm at 2650 mm wide.

Chemical composition

A separate plate range of 0.250–4.00 in is published at 73–83 ksi tensile, 63–73 ksi yield, and 11–13% elongation.

Strength by temper (long transverse)

T73 is T6 that has been overaged. Strength drops, and resistance to sustained stress and to corrosion rises. Wing skins, gears, shafts, valve parts, and landing-gear details are typical T73 duties. T651 is stretched after T6 so residual stress is lower and the plate moves less when it is cut.

Bare T6 and T651 stock

Bare T6 is listed from 0.010 in through 10 in on 1250 × 2500 mm and 1525 × 3660 mm. Bare O sheet from 0.016 in through 0.19 in is listed at 1520 × 3020 mm to AMS 4044, QQ-A-250/12, and ASTM B209. T651 bare plate starts at 0.313 in on the same two metric blanks.
