Technical Overview

7075 Alclad sheet is 7075 with a thinner, more corrosion-resistant aluminium cladding on the faces. The core still carries the high strength of the zinc alloy. The cladding is what protects the surface in service, which is why airframe skin is often ordered clad rather than bare.

Thickness 0.01–0.24 in (0.2–6 mm). Width 35.4–104 in (900–2650 mm).

O Alclad: QQ-A-250/12, ASTM B209, AMS 4048.

T6 Alclad: QQ-A-250/13, AMS 4049, ASTM B209.

Stock at 1520 × 3020 mm

O Alclad thicknesses: 0.016, 0.020, 0.025, 0.032, 0.040, 0.063, 0.071, 0.080, 0.090, 0.100, 0.125, 0.160, and 0.190 in (0.41–4.83 mm).

T6 Alclad thicknesses: 0.012, 0.016, 0.020, 0.025, 0.032, 0.040, 0.050, 0.063, 0.071, 0.080, 0.100, 0.125, 0.160, and 0.190 in (0.30–4.83 mm).

Density for a weight estimate is the 7075 figure, 2.81 g/cm³, on the metal weight calculator. The cladding is thin relative to the core, so that density is the practical figure for a blank.
