Technical Overview

Forged pipe is a thick-wall aluminium hollow, pierced or bored from a forging, used when an extruded tube wall is not heavy enough. Extruded and drawn pipe in the same alloys stays on the pipe pages, for example 6061 pipe, 5083 pipe, and 7075 tube.

Alloys: 6061, 7075, 5083, 2024, 7050, and 2219. Routes: open-die for long hollows, closed-die for shaped ends, ring rolling for flanges and shells.

ASME B16.11 socket-weld and threaded fittings in the steel catalogue are a different product. They are not replaced by this page. An aluminium forged hollow is ordered by outside diameter, wall, alloy, and temper.
