Technical Overview

2024 square tube is the same aluminium-copper alloy as 2024 round tube, with the outside measured across the flats and the corner held so the section does not spring after it is cut. Bar in this alloy is 2024 bar.

Processing: cold drawn and extruded. Hot-selling tempers: O, T3, T3511, T4. Length up to 30 m, fixed or cut.

Listed sizes include 1.000 × 1.000 × 0.065 in in 2024-T3 to AMS-WW-T-700/3, and 3.785 × 3.785 × 0.188 in in T3511 to AMS-QQ-A-200/3. Other square and rectangular sizes are cut to the drawing.

Equivalents: EN AW-2024, AW-AlCu4Mg1, AU4G1, 3.1355, UNS A92024.

The round-tube standards also cover drawn and extruded hollows when the order names them: AMS 4086, AMS 4087, AMS 4088, ASTM B210, ASTM B221, ASTM B241, AMS 4152, AMS 4165, ASME SB241.
