Technical Overview

Tooling plate and tooling block are thick aluminium sections with a fine, even grain. They are used where thickness tolerance and dimensional stability have to survive machining: mould bases, jigs, fixtures, and CNC platforms. The plate welds, anodises, and resists corrosion well enough for those duties.

Cast plate in this range is the usual comparison point for MIC-6, ATP-5, Alca 5, and CT&J plate. The figures below are the published plate and block ranges, not a claim that one brand outruns another.

Stock thicknesses

Cast tool and jig plate is listed at 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 1-3/4, 2, and 2-1/2 in. Width and length for those rows are not fixed; they sit inside the 1000–2500 mm by 2000–6000 mm standard.

Where it is used

Aerospace jigs, fixtures, CNC platforms, and die parts. Blow-forming dies, injection-mould bases, and rotary moulds. Press plates and mould support plates. Mounting plates, vacuum plates, and inspection platforms. Packaging-machine frames. Non-magnetic fixture plates for medical equipment. Mould blocks for rubber moulding and refrigeration. Router plates. Clamps, fixtures, and modular bases.

6061 and 5083 in this range anodise, including hard anodise, when the surface treatment is specified on the order. Metric and inch sizes are both supplied. The plate is machined, drilled, tapped, and bent. Most of the alloys weld by MIG or TIG.
